Perhaps you are just beginning to think about having a baby and want to ensure that you are preparing for the healthiest pregnancy possible. Or, you have been trying to get pregnant for over a year and have not yet conceived. You may even have been trying for some time to get pregnant and are considering In-vitro fertilization (IVF). No matter where you are on your journey, you can enhance your fertility with Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
Chinese herbal medicine can improve pregnancy rates two-fold:
Acupuncturists and Chinese medical doctors have known for a long time how effective Chinese herbal formulas are at improving fertility. This was recently validated when an updated meta-analysis in Pub Med of forty RCTs (randomized controlled trials) of 4,247 women showed that Chinese medicine improved pregnancy rates 2-fold compared to Western medical fertility drug therapy. Not only were fertility indicators increased, but other factors that would lead to a viable, healthy pregnancy were also improved.
The trials included women with PCOS, endometriosis, anovulation, fallopian tube blockage or unexplained infertility. Mean pregnancy rates in the CHM group were 60% compared with 33% in the WM (Western Medicine) group.
These statistics clearly show that women are almost twice as likely to get pregnant using Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Acupuncture Treatments Improve Fertility:
In addition to Chinese herbal medicine, numerous studies have shown that acupuncture alone has improved fertility in women. Research shows that acupuncture regulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and therefore ovulation and menstruation. Other studies indicate that acupuncture enhances endocrine system functions and therefore influences hormonal imbalances favorably. Acupuncture treatments have been shown to increase circulation to the uterus and ovaries in order to improve fertility and balance hormones.
Acupuncture improves pregnancy rates of women receiving in vitro fertilization and embryo transplantation (IVF-ET).
A landmark German study concluded that acupuncture could enhance the success rate of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) by almost 50%. Follow-up independent studies replicated these results. And in 2014, a study confirmed that acupuncture increased IVF success rates by 42% and also concluded that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine even when used alone, were an effective way to assist patients in conceiving naturally.
